Manchester United's teenage sensation Adnan Januzaj proved to be a match-winner on his Barclays Premier League debut after scoring two goals to give the Red Devils a much-needed 2-1 win at the Stadium of Light.

United were far from their best and went a goal down. At the end of the first period, I thought we were facing a third successive Barclays Premier League defeat but the 18-year-old Belgian winger proved too good for Sunderland keeper Keiren Westwood.

Hailing Adnan Januzaj's impact, his United team-mate Michael Carrick said,

He's done it on the big stage and he's made a big improvement and he's taken his chance in pre-season and he took it on his first start, two great finishes. He's won us the game. He's got a great attitude. He can be anything he wants to be, he's that good. I'm sure he's not going to get carried away with himself.

David Moyes was also impressed with Januzaj's debut performance and said,

I remember giving Wayne (Rooney) his debut and Adnan is certainly that quality. He's a top, top player. He's going to be a special talent and he showed he's got goals and ability. We will keep his feet on the ground.

United will now face Southampton at Old Trafford on October 19th after the current international break.
